Meet the Design Team
Have you ever wondered who the talented crafters are who make some of the amazing samples you see on our website and Create and Craft TV? Well here they are – meet the fabulous members of our design team…
My name is April and I am a mum of 4 teenage daughters. I am a disabled mum who works for the NHS as admin.
I started scrapbooking when I because disabled and had to stop working for social services and got diagnosed with anxiety and depression. I started scrapbooking my daughters baby photos and quickly realised how therapeutic it was so on doing further research I discovered card making and that was 12 years ago! My favourite craft item is my scan n cut or my growing library of dies. I like both for roughly the same reason because they are so versatile and even when I am “blocked” I.e. have little or no crafty mojo, they help me finish my project or give me ideas for different projects, so then I will just pause the project I am working on.
Florals and butterflies are my favourite theme especially as there is such a huge array of dies and designs out there in the crafty world, so I never get bored! My ideal job would be to craft at home for a living especially with being disabled/suffering with anxiety that sometimes makes me not want to leave the house, until then I will continue to enjoy my time on the design team as I see it as such a privilege that I have been given the opportunity to showcase my design ideas with the new and upcoming products.
Hi my name is Barbara Tredwell.
I started crafting 9 years ago after I had to give up work after having back surgery for a back problem it helped with something to focus on.
And I adore it and getting on My Craft Studio design team in 2011 was the icing on the cake.
Hi I’m Irene from West Yorkshire, my mum taught me to knit when I was 5 and I have done all sorts of crafty stuff. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1993, and to keep my mind occupied I took flower arranging classes. One day while visiting a craft fair I saw someone demoing stamping and heat embossing, I bought a stamp, ink ,embossing powder and a heat gun, and signed up for some classes. My thoughts were making cards won’t take up as much space, as storing all the silk and dried flowers, big mistake!! My card making really took off when I bought a computer and then discovered MCS CDs. As the kids moved out I took over the smallest bedroom as a craft room, and since buying my scan n cut I have taken over half the spare room as well. I joined the DT about 6 years ago and love it, and still get a buzz when I see my cards on the telly, and have made some very good friends through my crafting. X
My name is Linda Trott…I have worked for Stephanie Weightman since 2007 so I can claim the honour of being the longest serving member on various teams including My Craft Studio, Scan n Cut and Dies …I have been crafting since childhood and have done many things including knitting for London and Paris fashion houses and learning dressmaking and tailoring at night school but I enjoy all crafts. I also have a very successful market stall selling my handmade cards so all in all I’m an very busy crafter…and I love it!!!
